Billiard Tips & Techniques - Rail Kiss Shot

Rather read than watch? Read about the Rail Kiss Shot below:

When To Use

Today, we're going to look at the Rail Kiss Shot. I'm shooting at the one ball here, my cue ball is down at the opposite end of the table. It doesn't look like I have much of a shot… particularly with the five ball blocking the way. Actually, I'm going to show you a shot that takes advantage of the five ball’s position and channels the one ball into the corner pocket.

Technique

Now, for this shot I’m going to use low left spin, go to the rail first and aim about an inch to an inch and a half to the right of where the one ball is causing the cue ball to come off of the rail and graze the one ball forcing it into the five and pushing it into the corner pocket on my left.

You can find this shot plus a whole lot more in the 99 Critical Shots in Pool by Ray Martin.
